Though it has the advanced function and the many doctors, the emergency medical system of Niigata University hospital does not make use of those advantages fully. The following three things are thought necessity to improve these conditions. They are 24-hour system of the emergency room, securing of the observation beds for emergency patients and securing of beds for the emergency unit. In the future, a critical care medical center is established by the university hospital, and it is desirable to contribute to the local medical service as a core hospital in Niigata Prefecture
