The outcome of a questionnaire on the postoperative quality of life (QOL) in 78 patients with gastric cancer who had undergone total gastrectomy was reported. Over 90% of the patients were good or fair in QOL. Over than 60% of them, however, suffered from various postgastrectomy complications which required pertinent treatments. It should be emphasized that close and long-term follow-up with adequate treatments in accordance with possible postoperative complications is essential for keeping QOL of cancer patients in good condition
