Histopathological findings of clot sections and bioptic specimens of bone marrows of 69 patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) were studied, compared with the cases of anemias, acute leukemias, myeloproliferative disorders, bone marrow transplantation and so on. Each subtype of MDS proposed by FAB cooperative groups was not defined only by histological examination. There were a number of cases in which histological findings were not correlated with hematological data, especially with cellularity, count of megakaryocytes and blast percentage.
