The resultative construction is a key grammatical structure in Chinese grammar. The causes for the causative are of great concern to the academy. This paper analyzes three syntactic structures to explain this phenomenon. The three syntactic structures are the following: 1) the construction in which the second predicate of the resultative construction does not have transitivity; 2) the construction in which the second predicate of the resultative construction is a binomial verb; 3) the construction in which the first predicate of the resultative construction is ergative
