Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative pathogen which causes severe infections in patients with compromised defense barriers. Because of the development of more and more resistant strains to multiple antibiotics, a new strategy for treating these bacterial infections is highly required. Targeting a type of cell-to-cell communication, called Quorum Sensing (QS), seems to be the ideal approach. This system is needed for coordinating Pseudomonas virulence and its blockage efficiently suppresses the bacterial pathogenicity without affecting growth.
