The mode of action of antibiotics is based on killing or growth inhibition, thus leading to an inevitable selection of resistant strains. The predicament obliges human beings to explore novel therapeutic concepts. Quorum sensing (QS) communication system stringently regulates the bacterial pathogenicity without affecting viability making QS an ideal target for development of new anti-infectives being less prone to resistance (QS inhibitors, QSIs).
