Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) is used for investigating the kinetic processes and molecular interactions by means of the statistical analysis of fluorescence fluctuations. These fluorescence fluctuations which arise from the small confocal volume are due to diffusion, rotation, intersystem crossing, conformational changes or other random effects of the fluorescent molecules under study. Therefore the fluorescent intensity from these fluctuations contains photophysical information on the nature of molecules.
