Arbetsmiljö för underhållstekniker vid DynaMate AB : Kartläggning och förbättringsförslag vid underhåll av bearbetningsmaskiner

This master thesis is the result of a project regarding work environment aspects of maintenance work. The project was carried out from August to December in 2010 at the company DynaMate AB in Södertälje. The project was delimited to only regarding maintenance work on equipment used in the transmission production unit within Scania CV AB. The project aims to elucidate work environment conditions and safety work aspects regarding shortcomings and faults. The project goal is to show were extra effort is in hand and suggest improvements. Maintenance work includes a lot of different tasks carried out in a numerous different places and machinery. Maintenance can be of preventive and corrective style. Screening methods of today often require a well defined work task in a well defined workplace for example evaluating musculoskeletal disorders. Therefore parts of different methods have been used together with observations to form a list of hazardous elements. These elements were judgmentally quantified and arranged from the most to the least hazardous element. A review of documented safety incidents as well as guidelines and policies for working environment conditions and safety work was also carried out. From the mapping of the current state four groups of elements were chosen for an investigation of underlying causes. These four were; Musculoskeletal disorders with odd working postures, preserved energy within electricity/hydraulics/pneumatics/automatic fire extinguishers, work carried out in area for internal transportations/blocked footpaths and working at high altitude/climbing on machinery. Underlying causes were summarized in to three main areas; the borderline between DynaMate AB and Scania CV AB, the purchase of new production equipment and finally the behavior and awareness within the staff. Within the borderline between the companies there are faults and shortcomings regarding co operations in safety work, communication before and after maintenance work of productions equipment and sharing information of safety incidents. The purchase determines the working conditions for a long time ahead. In the early stages of the purchase process the influence of the equipments design is high regarding among other things future work postures within maintenance work. The behavior aspects includes aspects; of following established instructions and routines, acquaintance of different production equipment and cutting corners on behalf of safety aspects as willingness to perform work task quicker due to efficiency and stressful production moments. The project suggests that efforts are made to step by step change the safety attitude of cutting corners and enhance the safety awareness and enhance the number of reports regarding safety incidents. The project suggests that more time and resources are entered to follow up safety incidents with root cause investigations and close follow ups with the staff by discussing incidents regularly. To achieve a higher machinery acquaintance it is suggested that an area in the work directions from the maintenance system Prima is added with specific safety aspects. Jointly safety inspections within the production area and enhanced communication at safety incidents are suggested to improve the safety work borderline between the companies and bring the safety work closer together. The project suggests that maintenance work and safety aspects get a higher priority within the early stages of the purchase process. The project suggests further investigations regarding safety aspects within the purchase process, enhancing the incident system to include observations and hazardous working conditions and development of an evaluation tool for musculoskeletal disorders within maintenance work.Validerat; 20110105 (anonymous
