The construction sector accounts for a large proportion of the total waste in Sweden and is facing significant environmental challenges. In this sector is NCC Construction Sweden (NCC), Sweden's third largest construction company with around 10,000 employees. In each project at NCC is an environmental strategy set up by the management team, in which requirements from four different sources is found: Swedish law, local regulations, client’s requirements and NCC’s internal requirements.The study was conducted in conjunction with the author's internship at NCC in Gothenburg, department Anläggning, with the purpose to forward the skilled workers, foremen and site managers' views on environmental challenge and work of the company - today and historically. A total of 8 anonymous persons were interviewed; two site managers, two supervisors and four skilled workers during the autumn of 2014.The study showed that financial incitements are of big importance to make the work feel justified for those who perform it - especially for skeptics. The paper burden is high and some believe that the environmental work is merely a paper product without any real sense. Client's requirements is also an important incitement that often means time and money devoted to environmental work in the project. Knowledge and dedication among production workers is relatively low today, and has to increase - promptly. It may also be noted that the focus has shifted in the construction industry - from yesterday's productivity for today's quality. This has not yet been implemented among all, which has led to that the acceptance and understanding of the environmental work doesn’t always exist.Validerat; 20150125 (global_studentproject_submitter
