Hur nyheter blir underhållning : en studie som undersöker hur amerikanska CNN använder dramaturgi i tre olika nyhetssändningar och hur det påverkar dess diskurser

The competition between different newsrooms constantly increases because of the large amount of modern news channels that have reached the media market, and because of the rapid growth of Internet. This leads to the newsrooms dramatization of their news, to keep their audience entertained and committed, and to be able to compete with other news operators. Essentially this means to get the viewers not to change the channel or visit a competitors webpage. The consequences of editing news so they are becoming “entertainment” is that it may affect the credibility of the news, and in the long run affect the viewers ideological point of view and values with their tampering reality. The purpose of this thesis is to analyse how the dramaturgy in three different news stories from CNN affects the discourses within them. To make this possible the material has been analysed through a dramaturgical analyse and a critical discourse analysis.The result shows that the creating of the discourses, in the three news reports from CNN, are affected by the dramaturgy. In some cases a discourse is developed by dramaturgy, and sometimes the dramaturgy creating the discourse it self.
