Att förena krav med behov : Arbetsgivare och integration av arbetstagare med funktionsnedsättning

The purpose of my study is to describe employer’s perception and experience, of the work to integrate employees with disabilities in the business. Employers have received people with disabilities and reduced work capacity through so-called transition from Samhall AB. People with disabilities have it more difficult to reach, get and keep work and are excluded from the labour market, which the government has the ambition to improve. Society is characterized by diversity and equal rights. This includes the right for everyone to work for continued prosperity. Employers have an important role as gatekeepers for people`s ability to enter the world of work. In Sweden we have an environment relative approach to disability, which means that it is the environment that puts up barriers for the individual. Five employers from five different industries were included in my qualitative study. I chose to focus on the physical and social integration, adaption in the work environment and the opportunities and barriers to integration. The results of my interviews confirmed much that emerged in previous research, including that state contributions are important. This is to compensate for the time and adaptation that employers provide. The social integration takes place in everyday work, where many employers have divided the workers into smaller working groups. Knowledge, communication and social support proved to be important both internally and externally in the business. Employers are showing a willingness to integrate workers with disabilities on the basis that it suits both the company and the individual.
