Dans som ett pedagogiskt verktyg? : En kvalitativ studie om lärares syn på dans som ett pedagogiskt verktyg i grundskolans tidigare år.

The study aims to examine teachers' views of dance as an educational tool. The study will present four teachers' views of dance as an educational tool in primary education through a qualitative interview. The background presents the relation of dance to the Swedish school from different perspectives to describe how dance can be an educational tool and how it is supported in the curriculum. The result shows that teachers agree that dance is a positive element for pupils in school. How dance would, or could be used in teaching there are divided opinions about. All respondents saw the benefits of having dance as an educational tool because of the knowledge and understanding that physical activity stimulates and promotes learning. Pupils' attitudes to dance are raised as a difficulty because of a perception that different gender-stereotyped attitudes exist, which could keep some students from participating in the dance context. The discussion problematizes teachers who without methodological skills uses dance in their education and the question if dance should be part of a general education, even though it may have adverse effects on the individual pupil.
