This essay examines how changes in interest rates affect Swedish households. The selected factor to measure how households are affected by interest rates is the debt ratio, which shows the average debt of the Swedish households relative to disposable income. Household debt is cause to several macroeconomic reasons but the report only examines how the debt ratio is related to interest rates in Sweden. The essay uses an analytical system approach where components as the interest rates and the debt ratio is explained by from the big picture; Sweden's economy - more specific Sweden's monetary policy.
