Cultural heritage tend to primarily ensure the physical aspects sych as buildings, block structure, and construction details. Secondly, the focus is on people’s behavior in the built-up. By considering the form and function in relation to the social life the willingness of people to linger in the public space can be affected.Stadshagen has long been a rural area with pastureland and allotments. Natural area has characterized the residents and been more of the city’s garbage dump for the unfortunate human destinies. When S:t Göran Hospital was built in the late 1800s it marked the beginning of Stadshagen’s development. Today Stadshagen consists of an attractive sea front to stay and move through. This gives it a great variation during the day, but the feeling of insecurity remains high.This thesis will, with the help of spatial analysis, investigate conditions and potentials to make the public environment more attractive to stay and move in. This is achieved by examining the linkages between cultural heritage, urban spaces and spatial integration. The thesis is based on a literature review with a focus on public spaces and their importance in the city. The three selected analytical methods have been thoroughly studied in terms of underlying theory, approach and applicability. The analysis was performed by the plurality of inventories in place. Furthermore, it presented various suggestions for how to improve the possibility of movement and residence in the area and thus increase the presence of historical continuity in people’s everyday lives.Validerat; 20151125 (global_studentproject_submitter
