Utvecklande ledarskap : Vad innebär det att vara ett föredöme?

The purpose of this master thesis is to examine and create a deeper understanding for what it means to be an exemplary model as a developmental leader. The study will focus on creating an understanding for how developmental leaders relate practically to leading in a exemplary model kind of way. This is to understand why and how developmental leadership is effective and what type of behaviors that emerge connected to leading in an exemplary way. The sample consisted of 12 randomly selected managers working at Karolinska University hospital who have finished a course in developmental leadership. The study is qualitative and issues an inductive reasoning where semi-structured interviews were performed in which the managers’ perceptions, opinions and behaviors were mapped out, connected to leading exemplary. The analysis created themes over reoccurring patterns in the managers’ way of leading as an exemplary model. The result indicates that the way managers practically lead as an exemplary and the approach they have matches the explanation of the component exemplary model in developmental leadership. The result of the study gives a better understanding and overview over how the leadership process connected to leading as an exemplary model. The result contributes to a better understanding for how managers who are developmental leaders practically act as exemplary models by presenting behavioral patterns that are reoccurring amongst the managers. These patterns represent a good example and hopefully will contribute to mapping best practices regarding leading as an exemplary model.
