Arbetsterapeuters erfarenheter av interventioner för vuxna med diagnosen ADHD med fokus på verksamma strategier

The aim of this study was to describe occupational therapists experiences of intervention for adults with the diagnose ADHD with focus on efficient strategies. Eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with occupational therapists working in outpatient psychiatry. The interviews were analyzed according to qualitative content analysis. The analysis resulted in four main categories: Highlighting the need for change. Together with the client to create a functioning everyday with associated subcategories: strategies to structure their activity overtime, creating strategies for individual activities, strategies for sleep and sleep habits. The third main category was The changes in life requires new initiatives and the fourth main category was Collaboration with relatives and housing support is an important strategy. The results showed that occupational therapists places great importance on developing a good relationship with their clients, and to ensure the client in the situation he is in and having a client-centered approach focused on meaningful activities. The client's difficulties in creating structure affects much all areas of activity in their everyday lives. The results also showed that changes in the client's life could often result in clients losing their strategies or not adapted to the new situation.
