Ikoniczność a metafora wizualna

The aim of the analysis is to prove that metaphor is not only a language phenomenon, but is also common in the visual arts. Th e paper discusses examples of visual metaphors, taking as its theoretical base the cognitive theory of metaphor. Th us the art forms can be divided into two groups: pictures whose meaning is fi rst of all based on a visual metaphor used, and posters which are a combination of visual metaphor and of the text (propaganda theme). The text aims to clarify the semantics of communication and present the power of rhetorics (in accordance with the idea of propaganda)
