Depuis cette date, de nombreuses sources nouvelles, notamment épigraphiques, permettent d’apprécier cette thèse pour la période 430-350 a.C. La conclusion est sans appel : les dépenses militaires étaient de très loin le premier poste de dépenses pour Athènes.
