BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Deep gray matter iron accumulation is increasingly recognized in association with multiple sclerosis and can be measured in vivo with MR imaging. The cognitive implications of this pathology are not well-understood, especially vis-a-vis deep gray matter atrophy.
