Transonic flows, which are common in aeronautical and spatial propulsion systems, produce shock-waves over solid boundaries. When a shock-wave impacts the boundary layer, an adverse pressure gradient is generated and a thickening or even a separation of the boundary layer is induced. If the solid boundary vibrates, the shock-wave oscillates, interacts with the boundary layer and produce a fluctuation of the static pressure at the wall.
