The aim of the thesis is the determination of the galactic escape velocity in the solar neightbourhood. A sample of very high-velocity stars (V tot ≥ 250 km -1), was built, first from Hipparcos catalogue and then form several trigonometric parallaxes catalogues (USNO, YPC and CNS3). In order to increase our sample, we have undertaken new distance determinations for Carney et al. (1994) high-proper motion stars, using the best available Hipparcos data and VandenBerg et al (1999).
