IgA, the dominant immunoglobulin produced in the gut, plays diverse roles ranging from toxin neutralization, immune functions regulation, intestinal homeostasis maintenance. It is now well established that polyreactive IgA, which target multiple bacteria, can modulate gut microbiota composition and have promising therapeutic effects. However, IgA features remain elusive in humans. We therefore determined the reactivity profile of native monoclonal antibodies from human colon and compared IgA1 and IgA2. We found that IgA are polyreactive and bind a diverse but restricted subset of gut commensals.
