Common bacterial blight is the main bacterial disease of commonbean. This disease is caused by Xanthomonas citri pv.fuscans (Xcf) and X. phaseoli pv. phaseoli (Xpp). Xcf and Xppare phylogenetically distant yet they share the ability to inducethe same symptoms on common bean, which is suggestive ofpathological convergence between these two pathovars.
