The general objective of this thesis is the numerical simulation of strong ground motions due to earthquakes. Significant deformations of the soil generate nonlinear behaviors in the superficial layers. The main contribution of this work is to take into account the nonlinearity of the media in a discontinuous Galerkin finite elements context. Different constitutive laws are implemented and analyzed. The particular case of theMasing-Prandtl-Ishlinskii-Iwan (MPII) elastoplastic model is looked at in-depth. This study is divided into two parts.
