This thesis work explores the diversity of olfactory behaviour of Drosophila species in a comparative approach. We identify differences in the levels of attraction of the larva of eight species, towards natural odours derived from their ecologies. We relate these differences to distinct chemotaxis strategies that arise from the unique modulation of various sensorimotor variables, as well as to genetic changes occurring at the level of the odorant receptors genes. Further, we detail the organisation of behavioural sequences of larval locomotion in different Drosophila species, and reveal unique foraging styles that result in differentiated strategies of escape and confinement responses in the presence of light gradients, known to mediate avo...
