International audienceThe point of this paper is to go beyond the controversy concerning the origin of two deities honored in two cities of the Pontus Euxinus, and to insist on the role and the context in which the two goddesses were worshipped: Parthenos in Chersonesos and Phosphoros in Byzantion. The point is the common sphere of action of these goddesses, protecting the inhabitants of these cities, against the unexpected assaults of theirs enemies.
