The amount of mast cells in a specific kinds of canine tumors

The most common neoplastic dogs diseases are skin and mammary glands‘ tumors. The number of mast cell is one of many factors that influences their cancerogenesis. Mast cells have different roles in specific types of tumors, nevertheless, there are few data on the impact to the further prognosis of these dogs diseases: melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas, and mammary gland carcinoma. The aim of the work is to compare the number of mast cells in these maladies: dogs‘ skin melanomas, squamous cell carcinomas and mammary gland carcinomas. Various samples and information about the dogs‘ skin and mammary glands tumors were collected during surgeries in a few different clinics of small breed animals, others were donated by the archives of LSMU VA patogoly centre. Histologic specimens were prepared from the samples provided by LSMU VA Patology centre. Mast cells were counted in these specimens and then each of them were compared with other types of tumor groups and within the groups. In these 15 specific specimens the highest number of mast cells were found in melonomas, average 5,6 mast cells in the field of research, and the lowest amount were found in mammary glands carcinomas group, average 4,16 mast cells in the field of research, and squamous cell carcinomas stayed in the middle position, average 4,4 mast cells in the field of research. These results does not reflect on population tendencies (ANOVA Sig. >0,05). Also, it was noticed that mast cells are differently divided in these specimens and their number may even significantly vary in the same tumor groups. The highest difference between maximal and minimal meaning was 15 pieces of mast cells in the researched field; it was determined in squamous cell carcinomas‘ group. Further investigations are need to be conducted in order to decide on the tendencies in a population scale. Also, longer period of time is needed to evaluate the mast cell number in the predictions of an individual disease progress, during which it could be possible to observe the survival rate of the dogs that endured tumor excision
