Most common respiratory tract diseases of dogs and cats, their diagnostics and treatment

Methods: collected data about dogs and cats with upper and lower respiratory tract diseases in 2014-2018. 317 patiens were studied: all animals had general (clinical examination, auscultation, palpation, blood morfological and biochemical test) and special (X-ray, endoscopy) examination. Samples for infectious agent identification by TL-PCR method was taken within the endoscopy. Were analyzed etiology, diagnostics and treatment of upper and lower respitory tract diseases. Accomplished comparative analysis of identified infectious diseases. Statistical analysis performed by MICROSOFT EXEL 2013, SPSS programs. Results: after the analysis of dogs and cats with respiratory diseases during the period 2014-2018, found that animals were more diagnosed with lower respiratory tract diseases (60% of all sick animals) than upper tract respiratory diseases (40% of all sick animals). Dogs have been more diagnosed with tracheitis, cats with rhinitis, and the less common disease in dogs and cats were laryngeal paralysis (1% of all sick animals). In all studied animal cases, dog infectious tracheobronchitis and feline infectious rhinotracheitis were diagnosed 28% patients. Patients with respiratory tract diseases were most common in autumn - 38 %, less common – 15% in winter of all sick animals. Bordetellosis was more common in young age (up to 1 year old) – 58% of all dogs with \"kennel cough'' (p<0,05). There is no sex predisposition in dogs with infectious tracheobronchitis. According to the statistics of vaccinated and unvaccinated dogs, the highest risk of get \"kennel cough\" was in unvaccinated dogs (85% of all dogs with infectious tracheobronchitis) (p<0,05). Most cats with FHV are up to 5 years old – 87% all cats with infectious rhinotracheitis (p<0,05). There is no sex predisposition to feline infectious rhinotracheitis.
