The new geomatics techniques have the aim of responding to the needs of damage documentation, risk assessment and providing support for managing and sharing data in emergency and danger conditions. The paper describes the experience of a group of researchers in geomatics and construction techniques at the Iuav University of Venice following the Emilia earthquake, when on 20th and 29th of May 2012, two powerful earthquakes struck northern Italy.
