Note:This project deals with the bifurcation buckling of perfectly plane, simply supported rectangular plates bonded to an elastic foundation, and subjected to a pre-buckling state of uniform biaxial stress. The state of stress is allowed to be in the plastic range as determined by the isotropic strain-hardening assumption and the J2 (von Mises) yield criterion. The constitutive relations are expressed in a way so as to incorporate plastic behaviour according to both J2 -deformation and J2 -incremental theories of plasticity, and also to include the elastic behaviour.
