Background: Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is one of free radical and excreted through the kidney which can damage lumen epithelial cells of proximal tubular. Carica papaya leaf contains flavonoid, phenolic & alkaloid, saponin, and vitamin C that can inhibit free radicals activity on lumen epithelial cells of proximal tubular. Objective: To determine the effect of Carica papaya leaf extract on number of proximal tubular lumen degeneration in white rat kidney orally induced by MSG.
