abstract: The solid municipal waste contains approximately 60% of organic matter and after varying temperature, pressure and residence time as factors, the temperature influenced the yield at least twice more than the residence time. The pressure had the least effect on the production of the syngas. Different types of hydrogen separation were explored ranging from pressure swing adsorption (PSA) to water splitting, factional/cryogenic method and then hydrogen selective membranes. The membranes were found to be more cost efficient, and easily accessible and fabricated and produced purer hydrogen gas.
