Synskadad och social : Ett arbete om funktionsnedsättning och sociala interaktioner

In this thesis visually impaired individual´s experiences of social interactions are dealt with. Visually impaired individuals can experience different problematic situations in social interactions because of their disability. The purpose was, by using a qualitative approach and interviews with ten visually impaired individuals, to take note of their thoughts, opinions, and experiences and find strategies that these individuals use to manage and prevent problems that may arise. Moreover, visually impaired individuals’ experiences of their own and others’ attitudes in social interactions, the problems they may have experienced in these situations, and how they have handled these problems were investigated. The results indicate various problems that visually impaired individuals sometimes have experienced in social interactions. The strategies for avoiding the problems in social interactions primarily concern attitudes from the visually impaired individuals and from the persons they have met.Validerat; 20141113 (global_studentproject_submitter
