This study investigates whether vocal lessons, both shared and individual, are used in high schools today. We also want to explore how vocal lessons changed with the introduction of the new curriculum Gy11. It’s important for us, as soon graduated vocal teachers, to have insight in how the teaching is conducted in school today, and that we are up to date on the new grading scale and the text of Gy11.We've done eight interviews with both teachers and students at three different high schools. The teachers have responded to the new curriculum has facilitated vocal teaching in various ways, including by clarifying and concrete objectives of the various steps involved in the text of Gy11. They also describe the pros and cons of teaching vocal both individually and in groups. The benefits they see with shared vocal lessons are that students have the opportunity to get deep into their topic and create a vocabulary around it. One of the drawbacks that they describe is that students can be nervous when preforming which will not promote learning.Since the interviewed students have not experienced the various curricula, we focused the interview questions more on the differences and similarities between the individual and shared vocal lessons. There are differing views about the shared vocal lessons of the interviewed students, depending on how experienced they are in the subject. The students who had not previously had shared vocal lessons experienced such that it was nervous and performance-focused, while the older and more experienced students could see the benefits of it.Validerat; 20130310 (global_studentproject_submitter
