The care of disabled people is an important part of the Swedish welfare system. The drawbacks are low status and low salary, which the work is characterized by. The aim of this thesis is to find out how staff in the care of intellectual disabled experience workmotivation and job satisfaction. A qualitative approach was used. Ten interviews with a theoretical base in motivation theories were conducted. The informants consisted of ten women 37-65 years old, who all worked as tutors in care of intellectual disabled people. The results show a number of factors that contributed to job satisfaction and motivation of the staff.
