This study examines how female and male characters are portrayed in the 15 most sold video games of 2014 and 2015. This study’s purpose is to answer how the roles are divided between the female and male video game characters, how big part of the characters that are portrayed with stereotypical characteristics and which hegemony is in the analyzed games. The theories used in this study are representation, hegemony, stereotypes and gender theory. The method used is a mix of quantitative and qualitative content analysis.
