The purpose of this thesis was to examine industrial electricity use among OECD countries and to test for differences in electricity demand between countries that have adopted a more sustainable energy mix and those that have not. A model for industrial electricity demand was derived and based on this a log linear function was specified. OLS regressions were performed, using panel data for 20 OECD countries for the time period 1978 to 2006, in order to estimate elasticities of demand. Separate regressions were run on two different groups of countries; the first group with a large share of sustainable energy in its energy mix while the second group had a smaller share of sustainable energy in its energy mix.
