Arbetsterapeutiska interventioner för barn med utvecklingsstörning : En litteraturöversikt

The purpose of this literature review was to describe and give an overview of occupational therapy interventions for children with developmental disabilities and evaluate the effects of these interventions. Data was collected by a computer-based search of published scientific articles. The collection of data started with a systematic search with a number of predetermined keywords in databases that were orientated towards medicine and health. As the data was collected the authors used forms of occupational therapy interventions as a screen to classify the interventions that were performed for children with developmental disabilities. The results were divided into three sections; one to describe occupational therapy interventions, one to describe the assessments used to evaluate the interventions and one to describe the effects of the interventions. The results of this literature review demonstrated that the most common form of intervention for children with developmental disabilities was ”restorative occupation”. The most common intervention of ”restorative occupation” was sensory integration therapy (SI therapy). The results also showed that only one of the assessments used in the articles was reviewed on both activity and functional levels; none of the articles contained any assessments which evaluated the effect on a level of activity subjectively. The results also demonstrated that in all the reviewed articles where the effect was studied, some degree of positive effect from occupational therapy interventions was observed.
