The aim of this study was to describe how young women define the concept “body image”, their perceptions of the body and how this body image had been created. In this study twenty people were interviewed and the design was a multiple case study. The informants said that body image is "an image of the body" and many related to their own body when they describe the concept. Four informants felt that face / head was not included in the concept of body image. Media plays a role in the perception of body image meant almost half of the informants but they questioned the picture of the body that media presents. The majority of respondents were satisfied with their body image. Some informants described their bodily changes during puberty as "hard"...
