Isolering och ensamhet: generella och individuella psykologiska effekter

The phenomena of loneliness and isolation, which are at the core in this thesis, do not exist “out there”. There has to be a subject, an individual, who experiences these phenomena in order for it to exist. The aim in this thesis is, through a literature study and an evidence analysis, to investigate and identify any law regulated psychological effects of long-term loneliness and isolation. That is to say, are there any psychological effects that could be described as independent of personality and if there is, what are they? Perhaps it is probable that all human beings, independent of personality and circumstances, sooner or later, will experience anxiety and depression after a certain amount of time spent in loneliness and isolation? That conclusion however, is not possible to draw based on the material analyzed in this thesis, partly due to methodological limitations and partly because the phenomena of loneliness and isolation is difficult to isolate from the experiencing subject.Validerat; 20140815 (global_studentproject_submitter
