This essay reports dance teacher’s thoughts around their choice in teaching methods and how these choices can differ. The objective is to bring forth how dance teacher’s work is changing depending on group, age and dance experience. It’s about teacher’s thoughts concerning freedom of choice in methods towards what the institutions see as preferable methods through focus, purpose and ambition. The work is based on qualitative interviews with teachers who are active as dance teachers. Which institutions who regulate the teachers work and how, explanations of the teaching methods used by dance teachers.
