Relativas livres e interrogativas encaixadas no portugu?s brasileiro

This work is dedicated to the study of Brazilian Portuguese (PB) embedded sentences: free relatives and indirect questions, through the scope of generative studies, like Ross (1967), Chomsky (1977), Bresnan and Grimshaw (1978) among others. The motivation for this research is, beside personal interest, the finding that these sentences may have the same linearity, as in Jo?o comeu [RL o que Maria cozinhou] e Jo?o perguntou [IE o que Maria cozinhou]. In addition, as highlighted in Caponigro (2003), M?ia (1992) and Prestes (2012), there is no consensus on the status of embedded sentences introduced by verbs: ver (to see), ignorer (to ignore), esquecer-se (to forget), lembrar-se (to remind), saber (to know), reveler (to reveal), descobrir (to discover), perceber (to seem), notar (to note) and ouvir (to hear). According to these authors, these verbs are ambiguous because both select free relative and indirect interrogative, as in the embedded sentence: Jo?o sabe/viu/revelou [RL/IE o que Maria cozinhou, which constitutes a problem for generative theory. In this way, through this study we aim to: a) establish the proprieties of free relatives and indirect questions; b) compare syntactically and semantically the two types of embedded sentences, besides to apply available tests in literature to identify free relatives and/or indirect questions; c) observe the behavior of embedded sentences selected by verbs considered ambiguous (cited above) and apply them in the same tests which identify the type of embedded; d) identify a possible solution to the problem in the differentiation of free relatives and indirect questions. With this study, we encounter, among other aspects that the verbs which are considered ambiguous pass in the biggest part of the tests (which identify free relatives and indirect questions). So, like a temporary solution, not free of problems, we will follow the studies of Su?er (1991 and 1993), Matos and Brito (2013) and Nye (2013) and we affirm that the embedded sentences are, in fact, resolutive sentences, in the term of NYE, 2013) or improper indirect question sentences (in terms of MATOS;BRITO, 2013). These sentences do not present feature [+interrogative] (like a real interrogative); have declarative nature and are selected by ambiguous verbs here analyzed.Este trabalho se dedica ao estudo das senten?as encaixadas do portugu?s brasileiro (PB): relativas livres e interrogativas indiretas, sob o escopo de estudos gerativistas como os de Ross (1967), Chomsky (1977), Bresnan e Grimshaw (1978), entre outros. A motiva??o para essa pesquisa ?, al?m de interesse pessoal, a constata??o de que essas senten?as podem apresentar uma linearidade igual, como em Jo?o comeu [RL o que Maria cozinhou] e Jo?o perguntou [IE o que Maria cozinhou]. Ademais, conforme destacado em Caponigro (2003), M?ia (1992) e Prestes (2012), n?o h? consenso sobre o estatuto de senten?as encaixadas introduzidas pelos verbos ver, ignorar, esquecer-se, lembrar-se, saber, revelar, descobrir, perceber, notar e ouvir. Segundo os autores citados, esses verbos s?o amb?guos, pois selecionam tanto relativas livres quanto interrogativas indiretas, como na encaixada contida em Jo?o sabe/viu/revelou [RL/IE o que Maria cozinhou, o que se constitui como um problema para a teoria gerativa. Assim, por meio deste estudo objetivamos: a) estabelecer as propriedades das relativas livres e das interrogativas indiretas; b) comparar sintaticamente e semanticamente os dois tipos de encaixadas, al?m de aplicar testes dispon?veis na literatura para identificar relativas livres e/ou interrogativas indiretas; c) observar o comportamento das senten?as encaixadas selecionada pelos verbos considerados amb?guos (citados acima) ao aplic?-los nos mesmos testes que identificam o tipo da encaixada; d) identificar uma poss?vel solu??o para o problema na diferencia??o das relativas livres e das interrogativas indiretas. Com esse estudo, constatamos, entre outros aspectos, que os verbos considerados amb?guos passam na grande maioria dos testes (que identificam relativas livres e que identificam interrogativas indiretas). Assim, como solu??o provis?ria, n?o livre de problemas, seguiremos os estudos de Su?er (1991, 1993), Matos e Brito (2013) e Nye (2013) e afirmaremos que essas encaixadas s?o, na realidade, senten?as resolutivas (nos termos de NYE, 2013) ou senten?as interrogativas indiretas impr?prias (nos termos de MATOS; BRITO, 2013). Essas senten?as n?o apresentam tra?o [+interrogativo] (como uma interrogativa verdadeira); t?m natureza declarativa e s?o selecionadas pelos verbos ?amb?guos? aqui analisados
