The Atlantic Forest is the Brazilan biome that has the greatest species diversity in relation to its area, it also has a high number of endemic species. Regarding the animal species, we can highlight the small mammals, which has high species diversity and great importance to ecossistem functioning. However, this biome has been drastically reduced, resulting in high levels of threat to this rich biological diversity.
