Uji Sitotoksik Ekstrak Etanol Daun dan Akar Beluntas (Pluchea indica (L.)) terhadap Sel Kanker Kolon Widr

Nowadays, the discovery of cytotoxic agents from natural materials continues to be developed. This is done as an effort to reduce the mortality rate due to cancer and reduce the side effects caused by the treatment of cancer currently in use. Beluntas leaves and roots (Pluchea indica (L.)), are potential plants to be developed as cytotoxic agents. Previous research has stated beluntas leaves have cytotoxic activity against HeLa cells and beluntas root has anticancer activity against brain cancer cells and nasopharyngeal cancer cells. This study aims to determine the cytotoxic effects of ethanol extract of beluntas leaves and roots on WiDr colon cancer cells and find out the class of compounds contained therein. Extraction of beluntas leaves and roots using maceration method with 96% alcohol dancer. Ethanol extract of beluntas leaves and roots was tested for cytotoxicity effects on WiDr cells using the MTT assay method and identification of compounds contained by thin layer chromatography (TLC) methods. The results showed that the ethanol extract of beluntas leaves and roots had a weak cytotoxic effect on WiDr cells, with IC50 values 339.84 µg / mL and 191.42 µg / mL respectively. The TLC test results showed that the ethanol extract of beluntas leaves contained alkaloid and tannin compounds while the roots of beluntas contained flavonoid compounds
