Studi Potensi Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Gelombang Laut Sistem Oscillating Water Column (OWC) di Kelautan Indonesia

Indonesia has great potential in maritime field, consisting of 17.480 islands, with the maritime area measured almost 6.000.000 km2. Oceanic energy problems unfortunately have not been used optimally especially in generating electricity. Seeing these problems, this final project discusses the analysis of the calculation of the power potential resulting from ocean wave power conversion using the Oscillating Water Column (OWC) system in Indonesian waters. This system was chosen because it was considered that the electrical energy output was more stable and in accordance with Indonesian waters. The research starts from secondary data collection from BMKG in the form of wind and wave height data, then the data is analysed using various equations to calculate ocean wave energy which can be generated by the OWC system of Ocean Wave Power Plants in Indonesian waters. Depends on the calculation of the smallest power generated at 19.479,6 Watt, while largest power amounted to 1.088.944,7 Watt. The area that has greatest potential to be applied Ocean Wave Power Plants using OWC located in the South Indian Ocean of Banten up to NTB with a maximum height of sea waves that can reach 7 meters. The application of power plants when maximum ocean wave conditions can contribute to providing electricity power supplies for 71 houses in the vicinity of Bengkulu if each resident’s house is installed with a power of 1300VA from PLN
