ELIZABETH’S SACRIFICE FOR FREEDOM IN SHEKHAR KAPUR’S ELIZABETH:THE GOLDEN AGE MOVIE (2007): AN INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOLOGICAL APPROACH

The research is aimed to reveal how Elizabeth’s sacrifice is reflected in Elizabeth: The Golden Age directed by Shekhar Kapur published in 2007. The objectives of the study are to analyze the structural elements in the movie and to analyze Elizabeth’s sacrifice of the movie based on individual psychological approach. The object of the study is a movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age directed by Shekhar Kapur. The researcher employs the descriptive qualitative research as a type of the research. The data sources are divided into two, namely primary data source and secondary data source. The primary data source is the events of the movie and script of Elizabeth: The Golden Age and the secondary data source is biography of character. The method of collecting data is documentation. The technique of analyzing data is descriptive. The results of the study are as follows. First, based on the structural analysis, Shekhar Kapur delivers a moral message that every human has to struggle and to sacrifice to reach his/her dream and the structural elements are related each other and form a unity. Second, based on the individual psychological analysis, Shekhar Kapur reflects that every human has a dream in his/her life and she/he needs to struggle and sacrifice to make it come true
