Germination and development of chilli pepper Capsicum frutescens L. (Solanaceae) under differential light regime and herbivory simulation

The chilli peppers (Capsicum frutescens) is a Solanaceae that stands out in the Brazilian cultural richness being widely used in cooking, beliefs and natural medicine, it is important for the socioeconomic insertion of low income families and family agriculture. The objective of this work was to observe the emergence and development of pepper plants in a differential light regime (full sun and shaded greenhouse) and herbivory simulation (0, 10 and 50% damage). It was observed that the best results in the measured characteristics occurred in the full sun environment, however, the shaded environment was not a limiting factor, only a slower development of plants. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo observar durante todo o ciclo da planta, comparando a emergência e desenvolvimento de plantas de pimenta em regime diferencial de luz (sol pleno e estufa sombreada) e simulação de herbivoria (0, 10 e 50% de dano).Observou-se que os melhores resultados nas características mensuradas se deram no ambiente de sol pleno, no entanto, o ambiente sombreado não foi um fator limitante, somente houve uma menor velocidade de desenvolvimento de plantas. Sendo assim, a pimenta se desenvolve bem nos dois ambientes e a escolha para o cultivo dependerá de outros fatores
