With the outbreak of the Arab Spring revolts, international security studies in the region of North Africa and the Middle East have gained further prominence. Among the countries that went through the wave of uprisings, this research explored the conflict in Libya and Syria, the first representing a case in which the Security Council approved a military intervention, and the second illustrates a case still without consensus on the measures that should be taken. Understanding the Syrian case, specifically, has as its main interest to systematize the causes that prevent a decision-making process related to this issue, bringing the Libyan case as an already successful comparison from the point of view of securitization.
