Rural Brazil has been undergoing great transformations for some time. Agribusiness, the pivot of these changes in the sector, took on an important proportion and ended up covering vast areas. The State, with its public policies, has contributed to introducing crops such as sugarcane throughout the national territory, mainly in the flatter areas, such as in the states of the Southeast and Center-West. Where sugar cane has passed, we find different ways of staying farmers in place as peasants. They have developed strategies that have enabled them to endure the lack of public support.
