Reserva legal: limites e perspectivas para a conservação do cerrado

This work aims to discuss biodiversity conservation of the savannah through the study of its Legal Reserves. The theme of the research was arisen from the discussion about the viability of the fragments of vegetation represented by the Legal Reserve areas in the Brazilian savannah, as well as the Ecological Corridors for the biodiversity conservation of the biome. Thus, a general objective was set in order to demonstrate the importance of the Legal Reserve for the biodiversity conservation of the savannah, along with specific objectives, such as: to historically contextualize the devastation of the vegetation, mainly in the savannah; to show the savannah dynamics and heterogeneity through the analyses of its constitutive phytophysiognomic types; to perform a critical, multidisciplinary and geographical-juridical analyses of the current Forestry Code including the Law Project 1876/99 which is about to revoke the current code. This analyses covers the prescription referring to the imposed limits for the implementation of the Legal Reserves in the savannah. The methodology applied here is bibliographic. This work took into account the fact that the savannah is an environmental asset which comprises multiple and unique species of fauna and flora that are fundamental to healthy life quality of present and future generations.Mestre em GeografiaO tema proposto neste trabalho é a conservação da biodiversidade do cerrado, por meio do estudo das suas Reservas Legais (RLs). O problema de pesquisa surgiu da discussão sobre a viabilidade dos fragmentos representados pelas áreas de Reservas Legais no cerrado, bem como dos Corredores Ecológicos para a conservação da biodiversidade do cerrado. Desse modo, delimitou-se como objetivo geral demonstrar a importância da Reserva Legal para a conservação da biodiversidade do cerrado, para cujo alcance, subsidiaram-se os objetivos específicos: contextualizar historicamente a devastação da vegetação, com ênfase na vegetação do cerrado; explicitar a dinâmica e heterogeneidade do cerrado, por meio da análise dos seus constitutivos tipos fitofisionômicos; realizar criticamente análise multidisciplinar, geográfico-jurídica, do Código Florestal brasileiro vigente, bem como do Projeto de Lei 1876/99 que está prestes a revogar o Código, quanto às suas prescrições referentes aos limites impostos para a implementação das Reservas Legais no cerrado. A metodologia da pesquisa constitui-se de natureza bibliográfica. Destaca-se, ainda, que esse trabalho considerou que o cerrado é um patrimônio ambiental que agrega múltiplas e singulares espécies de fauna e flora, fundamentais à sadia qualidade de vida das presentes e futuras gerações
